Gucci × Ritu Kumar
A conceptual AW-RTW collection responding to fashion's long history of cultural appropriation — sparked by Gucci's much-criticised kurta, sold for lakhs without crediting its Indian roots. Rather than appropriation, the project proposes collaboration: pairing Gucci with the Indian heritage house Ritu Kumar, so the craft and the artisans behind it are acknowledged and upheld.
The deck runs from the concept through design development to a Gucci-style lookbook of embroidered kurtas, kaftans, and co-ords.
